I have always loved studying human behavior and personality development. I see each person like a puzzle and want to put the pieces together to help clients see their truest selves. I am fascinated by unique personhood and how it is juxtaposed with the shared human experience. My love of psychology and sociology led to a desire to help people acquire the skills to meet life’s challenges. During and after earning my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees, I worked in hospitals, community outpatient settings, and churches. I have experience with clients through all stages of life. My focus is to help each person recognize their strengths needed for their personal growth and development.
After I married my husband, I decided to be a stay-at-home mom to our first child. That decision became a second career: a home-school mom to six wonderful children. My three eldest have since graduated and pursued college, and I still home-school my three youngest children. After 25 years of marriage, many life events, and the growth and development of my own children, I returned to my other dream...of being a mental health professional.
Throughout motherhood I have volunteered as a biblical counselor online as well as counseled in my church community. My passion for exploring biblical applications has helped develop a Christian perspective alongside my training in psychology. I have a biblical worldview while utilizing the benefits of research, psychopharmacology, and therapeutic modalities. My love for people allows me to work with a variety of populations. Although my personal life is centered around Christianity and my faith, clients are not expected to relate their own experiences with any spiritual beliefs.
My experience includes parenting knowledge, attachment, connecting with teens and young adults, marriage preparation and counseling, teaching empathy and communication skills.
